QSFP active optic cables are a high performance, low power consumption, long reach interconnect solution supporting 40G Ethernet, fiber channel and PCIe. It is compliant with the QSFP MSA and IEEE P802.3ba 40GBASE-SR4. Optone QSFP AOC is an assembly of 4 full-duplex lanes, where each lane is capable of transmitting data at rates up to 10Gb/s, providing an aggregated rate of 40Gb/s.

AOC & DAC Cables — High-Density Data Center Interconnects

OPTONE Active Optical Cables (AOC) and Direct Attach Copper (DAC) assemblies provide reliable, factory-terminated connections between switches, servers, storage systems, and network appliances.

Passive DAC offers the lowest cost and power consumption for short in-rack links. AOC is lighter, thinner, immune to electromagnetic interference, and supports longer rack-to-rack connections. Breakout assemblies connect one high-speed switch port to multiple lower-speed server ports.

All cable assemblies are available with OEM-compatible coding for major switch and server platforms, custom lengths, private labeling, and volume packaging.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I choose AOC or DAC?

Use passive DAC for the shortest in-rack links when cost and power are the priority. Choose AOC for longer distances, easier cable routing, and immunity to electromagnetic interference.

Are breakout cables supported?

Yes. OPTONE supplies QSFP-to-SFP and QSFP-DD breakout assemblies for 4x, 8x, and other supported port configurations.

Can cables be coded for specific switch brands?

Yes. AOC and DAC assemblies can be programmed and tested for Cisco, Arista, Juniper, Huawei, Dell, HPE, NVIDIA/Mellanox, and other platforms.
